Alex has always wanted to experience life in Canada’s Rockies. So when he finished his college program in Ottawa, he signed up with Mobilize and headed west to see the mountains!
His adventure started with his epic cross country road trip with his grandpa; from Ottawa to Lake Louise. Once he arrived in Alberta, he started off as a housekeeper in a Lake Louise hotel, making beds and ensuring rooms looked extra nice for guests. Since then, he’s been promoted to a maintenance position, where he’s learning tons of new transferable skills.
“I’ve learned a lot, including how to make a bed (my parents are very pleased),” he says. “I’ve also learned to manage my time, and most of all, to work as part of a team with many different people from around the world.”
In addition to that valuable work experience, Alex has also had some pretty incredible life experiences as a Mobilizer.
He’s made close friends from seven different countries (some of whom he is planning to visit in the near future), climbed mountains, tackled hiking trails, visited natural parks – and had one heck of a life changing experience.
“There are so many things to do here,” he says. “In summer, I spent lots of time swimming and hiking with friends, and this winter I’m snowboarding at one of Canada’s most beautiful resorts – it’s only a 10-minute drive away!”
Alex enthusiastically encourages other recent grads to give Mobilize a go.
“Do it!” he says. “A change of scenery is great for the soul. My friends and family rave that joining Mobilize is the best decision I ever made. Not only has it been a lot of fun, I will be taking away tons of transferable skills and a newfound confidence in my abilities as an employee. Mobilize has helped me build myself into someone I’m really proud of – thanks Mobilize!”
