Mobilize is growing! Employers are experiencing all the benefits of our seasonal staffing model, and we’re placing more and more young Canadians in businesses across the country to meet shortages in industries that have traditionally faced big staffing challenges.
If you aren’t familiar with Mobilize, it’s a new staffing model that works on a rotational placement basis, supplying tourism, hospitality, resorts, golf courses and food services businesses with a continuous supply of hard-working young employees. Mobilizers rotate to different locations seasonally so businesses always have fresh, motivated staff.
Need staff for the upcoming 2017 summer?
Our workers get booked fast. To get staff for May start, sign up by March 15, 2017. We have 100 remaining workers that are available and ready to be mobilized across the country.
Here’s what Chad Gulevich, owner/operator of two hotels and partnered in a third in western Canada, has to say about the program: “It’s another channel for us to find great workers and it’s reliable…we don’t have to spend time recruiting, and we get peace of mind being fully staffed.”
Chad talks about his five seasonal deployments with Mobilize Jobs, including two very busy, high-season summers in a new case study.
Growing fast and going strong
Last year, we placed over 200 Mobilize workers throughout Canada, at 20 member properties in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Yukon. Since launching in 2014, the program has placed more than 350 young Canadians across the country, with great feedback from member properties.
“Elmhirst’s Resort worked with Mobilize Jobs to meet its human resource needs in the summer of 2016 and beyond,” says Greg Elmhirst, co-owner. “The Mobilize team was proactive, pleasant and professional to work with and the Mobilize staff performed well in our operation. I would recommend Mobilize Jobs without hesitation.”
“The hospitality skills we’ve seen have been OUTSTANDING thus far,” says Brody Purser, Deerhurst Resort’s Regional Director of Human Resources. “We are very pleased with their performance to date.”
“The Mobilize program provided our resort with motivated employees who have a base of training and interest in the tourism industry. We set a contract period that works for our business and works for the employees as they move on to other tourism establishments upon contract completion,” says Dianne Hounsome, General Manager at Bayview Wildwood Resort. “The additional funds spent to utilize this program compared favourably to the cost of staff turnover in our busy season. I will be contracting employees for the 2017 Spring-Fall season through Mobilize based on my good experience this past year.”
Labour shortage challenges
In past years, hotels and resorts have experienced particularly significant labour challenges in their busy summer seasons. Mobilize is helping a growing number of properties address those challenges with motivated seasonal workers. As a result, the program’s popularity has grown dramatically in high-tourism areas, and we are increasingly being recognized as an exciting, viable, cross-country solution for an industry plagued by labour shortages.
Amanda Robinson, past General Manager of Copper Point Resort, says “The hospitality industry has a system wide challenge with recruiting workers both highly skilled and lower skilled. The drastic changes the federal government made to the TFWP just exacerbated an already huge problem. Mobilize is exactly the sort of innovation we need as an industry. It helps with staffing and also does something we have always wanted to do: hire Canadians.”
Need summer staff?
Mobilize is busy helping businesses find great people for the busy summer season – and making a serious dent in youth unemployment over the long term. More than 25 properties have already signed onto the program in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Yukon.
We have 100 remaining workers that are available and ready to be mobilized across the country. If you’re looking for great employees for the busy summer season, Mobilize can help fill your labour shortages – so you can offer your customers the best service possible.
